About Us

In the autumn of 1998, we started a short series of jazz concerts in church, with encouragement from our then vicar, David Tuck. Various musicians played for us, amongst them Humphrey Lyttelton and Martin Klute. We did not expect that annual jazz seasons would be going from strength to strength in Pinner Parish Church so many years later! Welcome...

Peter Cater's Ministry of Jazz

14/01/2017, 20:00

Another Pinner first, with Peter Cater’s dynamic new band in a new location; Pinner United Synagogue, 1 Cecil Park, Pinner, HA5 5HJ.

Peter is one of our greatest drummers and has been running his own big band for years, while working with every top act of the day. His seven-piece Ministry of Jazz incorporates fine charts written by band trombonist Adrian Fry, a Pinner regular, with the fiery young trumpeter George Hogg teamed with Adrian, plus ex-NYJO altoist Richard Shepherd and the brilliant Vasilis Xenopoulos on tenor, the estimable Pete Whittaker on Hammond organ and a gutsy rhythm section completed by bassist Simon Thorpe and of course, Pete, magisterial at the drums.

Karen Sharp's Quartet was oustanding; brilliant support from Nikki, Dave and Steve. A wonderful evening. - Michael Wright

I would just like to say thanks for a brilliant evening in the wonderful, informal atmosphere at Pinner Jazz last night. Christian Brewer’s quintet was simply amazing. Sitting in the second row we felt completely immersed in all the outstanding performances. - M.R.

Another wonderful evening of jazz at Pinner Parish Church. The (Magnificent Seven) musicians were outstanding. - R.M.
